Biography
DOUTRELEAU was born on 14th June 1938 in Arles. He grew up there, in the light that dazzled Van Gogh, Cézanne and so many other painters. In 1968, during a stay in the United States, he found what was to be the driving force behind his work : Speed and Movement. Since then, several personal exhibitions have made Doutreleau's work known world-wide. From Paris to Los Angeles, from Tokyo to Munich or Rio, his work is featured in several collections. "Tautness is the emotion which gives life to work. The cry is born in silence. Art is this cry which is repeated a thousand times, the painting is its battlefield…"
